Lauri Shillings ran for the office of U.S. House of Representatives in Indiana's 5th Congressional District in 2024. She is a proud member of the Libertarian Party. Ms. Shillings believes in responsible government spending, modern education, and accessible healthcare. She is a life-long Hoosier with working-class roots who has become exhausted by the disconnect between our federal government and its people.

She has over 20 years of leadership in business ownership, and career experience in media, marketing, and educational organizations. Lauri learned from a very young age the value of civic service and dedication to community. Her wish is to motivate her community to realize how government impacts their daily lives.

Lauri is a life-long Hoosier. Her parents still live on the family property which is one of the oldest, original family-owned homesteads in the state. It was settled in the early 1800’s along the Tippecanoe and Montgomery county border. She has always had an entrepreneurial spirit and has had several small businesses. Lauri is the owner of Pirate Smile Media, operating since 2000. She is a backyard chicken enthusiast, a homeowner with extensive remodeling skills, and an educator for higher learning organizations.

Lauri holds a deep commitment to servant leadership. She believes in implementing sound financial management practices to maintain balanced budgets and cut unnecessary spending. Lauri advocates for modern learning methods to keep the education system competitive globally. Moreover, she believes that affordable and accessible healthcare should be a right, not a privilege.

Her proven track record in leadership roles within the media industry, educational organizations, and the Libertarian Party - including four years of serving as Chair of the Hamilton County and two years as the 5th District Representative for the State Party. Her unique blend of professional skills, creative approaches to solutions, and grassroots activism positions her as the ideal activist to drive meaningful change in the district.
