Putting Hoosiers First. Fighting for Integrity.

“I believe the Secretary of State should serve the people - not a political party.”

Hamilton County Libertarian Party Chairwoman, Lauri Shillings, is seeking her party’s nomination for Indiana Secretary of State in the 2026 general election. A longtime advocate for transparent government and civic empowerment, Shillings is ready to bring a new vision to this crucial state office.

Hoosiers need to be able to trust our state to hold free and fair elections without interference, and that starts with the Secretary of State.

Why She’s Running

Shillings, a small business owner, Creative Director at the University of Indianapolis, and lifelong Hoosier, is stepping up in response to what she sees as a lack of transparency, fiscal responsibility, and integrity from current Republican Secretary of State Diego Morales.

Lauri on the Issues

Restoring trust:

Lauri will end partisan misuse of the office, resist federal overreach, and maintain a neutral, independent position that protects Hoosiers.

Serving small businesses:

Indiana used to be a place where small businesses of all kinds felt welcome to come in and set up shop. Shillings is a visionary who believes the Secretary of State’s office should serve Hoosiers, not hinder them — modernizing services so business interactions are fast, fair, and frustration-free, and restore our reputation for “Hoosier Hospitality.”

Advocating for Voters:

Indiana has one of the lowest voter turnouts in the country. Lauri will make it easier for Hoosiers to know how, when, and where to vote - and who is on their ballots.

A Voice for All Hoosiers

Lauri believes the Secretary of State should serve the people—not a political party. Her approach centers on competence, service, and transparency. Over the next few weeks, Shillings will share her goals and vision as she builds her team and listens to voters statewide.

What’s Next?

Shillings is seeking the Libertarian nomination at the party’s 2026 state convention. In Indiana, the Secretary of State race plays a vital role in maintaining the Libertarian Party’s ballot access—requiring just 2% of the vote to qualify.

“My deepest hope is to see voters who normally would not turn out, who do feel disenfranchised if they show up at the polls, that they don't feel like their vote won't matter– because it does.”
